Every arc joins two chapters that the Scriptures tie together — a quotation, a promise kept, an echo. Open any book and it spreads across the map, chapter by chapter, with only its own links drawn.
Open a book and the axis rearranges around it: that book takes the middle half, the rest of the Bible squeezes in on either side, and every arc drawn is one of its own. Pick a chapter inside it to see just what that chapter reaches; point at one of the chapters it reaches and the references appear on the map itself — the two verses, their words, and how many readers voted for the link. Click that chapter to hold the references open so you can read them and follow either verse into the reader; click the map again to let go, or click the same chapter twice to travel there.
Every book is given the same span and its chapters are spaced evenly inside it, so the map reads as a shelf of books rather than a ruler of verses. On a narrow screen the whole thing turns on its side: the books run down the page and the arcs reach out to the right. Arcs that share the same two chapters are drawn together, and the brighter an arc, the more reference entries stand behind it. A passage that spans several chapters is placed at the chapter it starts in.
